Brief: Pfizer Consumer Healthcare approached Phillips to produce an ‘add on’ back display for an existing injected moulded unit. These tiered units were used to promote their Chapstick range in pharmacies & supermarkets throughout the UK but were too generic in design & print. They needed a way to push a certain Chapstick flavour at a certain time of the year (season).
Solution1: Our design team produced a set of displays that could easily be ‘clicked’ onto the existing units & along with the customers’ litho printed graphics, the end result was a vibrant range of flowers & trees that suited the individual season, so the end user could pick & choose the relevant display.
Solution 2: From that success our customer set us another challenge & asked if Phillips could come up with a design solution to manufacture the Chapstick display here in the UK. Again our design team set to work, mocked up some samples for the customer to approve & after a few tweaks here & there, produced the finished Chapstick Tower, designed to hold over 200 sticks but with the minimum of footprints. The design also enabled the tower to be easily refilled on site.
Design: The towers are made out of polypropylene which can be litho printed directly with any 4 colour process image or branding that the customer can imagine. They can be sent flat packed, easily assembled and gave the customer a considerable cost saving.
Result: The first wave of Towers were launched back in early 2007. These were produced to imitate a Chapstick with the addition of a dispensing unit at the base of the tower & had printing to match the original flavours’ packaging. Since then sales of the product have boomed! This year our customer placed a substantial order to promote a new flavour of Chapstick & tie in with a new DreamWorks film. With the Quantity involved & the imminent release of the film, we had all hands on deck to meet the deadline. Our customer created some striking artwork & the finished towers looked fantastic!
Brief : Mencap required a range of underwater props for an exhibition stand where they were planning to promote their sponsored dive event.
Solution : The design team at Phillips Plastics produced a range of polypropylene shaped sharks, fish and large translucent aqua panels with underwater designs printed on them.
Design: The design is made from one piece of 800mic frosted Polyprop and folds up using tab locks to self assemble into a 3D shark. They can be produced in various frosted colours.
Result: The Mencap exhibition stand looked great and was a success. An added bonus – who should be exhibiting in the stand next to them… The Shark Trust! When they saw the sharks they loved them and have subsequently ordered them every year since.
